Nothing can touch the majestic beauty of the Catskills during the FALL LEAF-PEEPING season.  Fall in the Catskills has inspired it's own art movement (Hudson River School) so plan to be here and take romantic walks among the intense folliage.  Visit the Astor House for maps of local trails and guidebooks to the local area.

If you are interested in THE VISUAL ARTS than Hotel Mountain Brook is your resort.  The 1940's lodge was completely updated keeping the rustic style by interior designer Iliana Moore.  There are also several local places of interest for the art enthusiast.  Local artists exhibit in the gallery at the Astor House right in Tannersville.

There are a series of talented theater companies within the region as well as concerts, festivals, and many music events.  Here are just a few that you might want to get tickets for when visiting Hotel Mountain Brook.

Shopping & Antiquing

So you can't go anywhere without stopping to check out every antique store?  Need your fix of small artist owned galleries and crafts?  Well we are located close to some of the best that New York State has to offer.  Hudson has more antique shops than almost anywhere in the East Coast so it is worth checking out.  The antiques section in the Astor House offers local inventory. Crafts, cookware, cards and gifts are also available.

The Hotel Mountain Brook is pleased to announce that for your convenience we now have a salon & spa on premise and we welcome award winning Cosmetologist and Spa coordinator, Laurie Darfler-Sweeney.

Laurie Darfler-Sweeney's qualifications make her one of the most experienced and talented in the industry. She brings her deep passion for health and beauty to the guests of the Hotel Mountain Brook. She has been a NYS licensed Cosmetologist for over 30 years, a NYS certified Cosmetology teacher, and a NYS certified athletics coach. Laurie owned and operated the Shear Art Hair Salon in Hudson Falls for 22 years and taught cosmetology at WSWHE BOCES. Laurie has earned the combined distinction of VICA local & state winner in Cosmetology and is a member of the WSWHE BOCES Hall of Fame.  Currently Laurie teaches Cosmetology at ONC BOCES in Grand Gorge.
